Inspiring the next generation at the Cheltenham Science Festival

Scroll

Working in aviation sector brings a wealth of diverse and exciting opportunities.

This week, Osprey volunteers will be making their way to Cheltenham to inspire young people on the IET exhibition stand at the Cheltenham Science Festival – a celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).

With a mission to ‘question everything’, the Science Festival will explore headline themes of Our Future World, Music and Sound and Mysteries of the Mind alongside a huge range of topics from health and wellbeing, psychology and lifestyle to nature, the law and the search for extra-terrestrial life.

Osprey’s volunteering efforts are being led by Senior Consultant, Nicole Saunders a STEM Ambassador and a founding member of the Gloucestershire STEM Network.

Nicole explainsPromoting STEM careers is absolutely critical to ensure that we inspire the next generation, as we are still suffering from a shortage of engineers in the UK at all levels and disciplines. Osprey recognises that we need to get young people interested now to protect the future of our industry, and being actively involved on the IET stand is a great platform to speak to young people about our own individual careers, as well as the diverse nature of the projects that we work on in the aviation sector.”

If you’re visiting the Cheltenham Science Festival this week, please come and say hello. You’ll find us on the IET Stand in the ‘Maker Shack’ within the Festival grounds in Imperial Gardens between 6-11 June 2017.
