We are an aviation consultancy which forms part of a TPG Services wider UK consulting offering, with a unique range of complimentary operational, engineering and safety capabilities across both the civil and military domains; this allows us to bring the very latest experience and best-practice to bear for the benefits of all our clients.

Established in 2006, Osprey’s independence within the aviation sector is relied upon by operators, system suppliers, service providers, government departments and the regulatory community alike.  As such we are trusted to consistently deliver the highest quality outputs across this safety-critical sector.

Our History



2023

  • Osprey CSL and TPG Services become part of Science Group, a science and technology business providing consultancy and systems to an international client base.



2022

  • Developing adjacent capabilities in Environmental and Maritime Safety.
  • Established as part of the tpgroup UK consulting business.



2020

  • Osprey went into space! Supporting vertical and horizontal space-launch operations, together with launch service providers, in the UK and overseas.
  • Bringing together our unique range of capabilities, Osprey secured the first of a number of Advanced Air Mobility contracts to bring this emerging aviation concept into reality.
  • Having always been a company founded on renewable energy, Osprey strengthened its environmental credentials through the provision of Solar energy ‘glint and glare’ and hydrogen storage assessments to airports.
  • Working with academia, Osprey is supporting the development of hybrid aircraft propulsion systems through Project Dragonfly.



2020

  • As we enter lockdown, Osprey launched ‘Osprey Kids’, a website dedicated to providing fun aviation-related educational material for children of all ages from Pre-School to Key Stage 2.
  • Osprey acquired by tpgroup



2018

  • Nic Saunders recognised by the Women’s Engineering Society as one of the top 50 women in engineering
  • Institution of Engineering and Technology nominates Lindsay Perks for the prestigious Karen Burt Memorial Award



2017

  • Osprey acquires gCAP and establishes an integrated Instrument Flight Procedure Design capability

To help find an acceptable interim mitigation for a proposed Wind Farm, LSA approached Osprey as recognised leaders in Wind Turbine Mitigation methods. As part of their remit Osprey reviewed the potential capabilities of the local radar as well as other mitigation technologies in relation to the anticipated turbine effects and our Operational Requirement. Based on their assessment of the available solutions, the local airspace environment and the demanding project timescales, the use of a Non Automatic Initiation Zone (NAIZ) was proposed.

Osprey subsequently developed the Radar Sensor Safety Case to include the NAIZ and supported LSA through the subsequent discussions with CAA SARG. As a result of these discussions the NAIZ was accepted into operational service prior to turbine operation.

The solution has subsequently worked well and has proven itself to be the right decision for the mitigation of the Wind Farm.

I would readily recommend Osprey to any ANSP seeking supportive and informed assistance in establishing mitigation of Wind Turbines on Approach Radars.

At short notice Osprey picked up and delivered, to the CAA, an extremely well researched piece of UAS analysis with a number of recommendations that we can take forward into delivery. The work is high risk and will inform political decision making in the UK and set a precedent across the world. The work they have delivered to date has met the agreed scope and quality. They have delivered to the timeframe and within the cost agreed without the need to direct or oversee the detail, which was extremely important especially when one of the reasons for the commercial arrangement with Osprey was due to internal resource constraints. The review and report they have completed will feed directly into UK Government policy as well as influence European and International policy direction for RPAS.
