Inspiring the next generation at Cheltenham Science Festival

Scroll

This week, Osprey volunteers will be making their way to Cheltenham once again to inspire young people on the IET exhibition stand at the Cheltenham Science Festival – a celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM). From stargazing to scientific experiments, Cheltenham Science Festival offers science galore for all ages.

Osprey’s volunteering efforts are being led by Senior Consultant, Nicole Saunders a STEM Ambassador and a founding member of the Gloucestershire STEM Network.

Nicole explains “Osprey recognises that we need to get young people interested in STEM careers now to protect the future of our industry, and being actively involved on the IET stand again this year is a great platform to speak to young people about our own individual careers, as well as the diverse nature of projects that we work on in the aviation sector.”

If you’re visiting the Cheltenham Science Festival this week, please pop in and say hello. You’ll find us on the IET Stand in the ‘Maker Shack’ within the Festival grounds in Imperial Gardens between 5-10 June 2018.

Cheltenham Science Festival around town – FREE screening of Hidden Figures

As part of the Science Festival, Cheltenham is hosting a wide range of free events in and around the city.

Osprey is delighted to be one of the companies sponsoring a free screening of the film ‘Hidden Figures’ at The Bacon Theatre on Thursday 7th June at 19:00. The evening will be hosted by Dean Close School and is open to all.

Hidden Figures tells the incredible untold story of Katherine Jonson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson – the brilliant African-American women working at NASA who served as the brains behind the launch into orbit of astronaut John Glenn, a stunning achievement that turned around the Space Race. The visionary trio crossed all gender and racial lines and inspired generations.

Please click here for further details of the event and how to register.

Prior to the screening at 18:00, there will be an opportunity for networking with local STEM employers for students and professionals to connect with local companies including representatives from Osprey.

We look forward to seeing you there!
