Scroll

Osprey has secured a new contract to undertake Safety Assessment support on the Voyager aircraft on behalf of the MOD’s Strategic Transport & Air to Air Refuelling (STAAR) Project Team.

The role of the Platform Safety Assessment contractor is to provide SME support for the continued development and supporting additional capability through update of the body of evidence that underpins the safety of the platform and the service provision in a compelling, robust and succinct safety argument. The Safety Assessment is managed and presented in a Goal Structured Notation (GSN) format in the ASCETM tool with the output presented as a Safety Assessment Report.

Mike Spencer, Engineering Director at Osprey said: “We are delighted that the MOD has awarded us this important safety assessment contract. Osprey has vast experience of providing the UK MOD with aviation expertise through our exceptional team of safety and airworthiness engineers drawn from both civil and defence aviation. Our work will ultimately help to ensure that the RAF Voyager aircraft can demonstrate it is airworthy and fit for deployment.”

Pete Symons, Military Projects Business Area Manager at Osprey added: “I am delighted to be working with the STAAR PT having followed the progress of the Future Strategic Tanking Aircraft (FSTA) programme over the years. The Voyager contract further enhances our capability in Large Transport Aircraft and I’m looking forward to working with the team.”

The safety assessment support contract will last for an initial period of a year with an option to extend for a further two years.
