Scroll

21/12/2022

Martin joined Osprey in 2022 from Babcock International, and prior to that had a 16-year career in the Military where he served in both the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force. He has an aviation background which includes Military Flying Training. Martin has also spent time working within recruitment for the Royal Navy and for much of his career was an Air Traffic Services (ATS) professional and trainer. Martin recently left the Defence College of Air and Space Operations (DCASO) where he was a trainer for 8 years in both Area and Terminal Airspace. During his tenure, Martin was the Training Manager for all the courses that are delivered and was also part of the development team of the 5-year Strategic Plan to ensure that the college was fully resourced. Martin was instrumental in preparing DCASO for the implementation of Project Marshall Equipment, in terms of both people and training, to ensure delivery of the wider RAF Strategic Plan to grow the ATS Branch. Martin utilised his ATS skills in International Airspace and was responsible for the development of the Safety Management Programme at Camp Bastion, Afghanistan as part of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). As the airfield expanded to become one of the busiest ‘UK Airfields’, he worked very closely with the US Military and the Federal Aviation Administration.

Away from work, Martin supports the Northwest Ambulance Service (NWAS) where he helps to influence change within the organisation. His support is based on specific feedback from patients and the local community which he ensures reaches the Trust Board. Most recently, Martin has become the Members’ Secretary for Team GB’s Olympic Luge Team, having spent 8 years competing with them whilst in the Military. Martin is a keen Ultrarunner and can be found out on the hills in the Lake District with his dog in between spending time with his family and trying to perfect his golf game!
