Osprey supports UK Space Agency in the development of Spaceflight Regulations

The latest Queen’s speech outlined measures to create new powers to license a wide range of new commercial spaceflight operations, including vertically-launched rockets, spaceplanes, spaceports and other technologies. Shortly afterwards, the introduction of the UK Space Industry Bill to the House of Lords on 27th June 2017 was a critical step towards the creation of the associated enabling regulatory framework.

Osprey is delighted to be supporting the UK Space Agency in delivering this exciting and ground-breaking programme by bringing our expertise in Air Traffic Management, Engineering and Safety expertise to bear in supporting the development of both the primary and secondary legislation that will encourage and enable spaceflight operations in the UK.

Rich Connelly, Strategy & Capability Director at Osprey explained “We’re proud to be supporting the UK Space Agency at such an exciting time in the development of this innovative new field where imaginative, yet robust approaches are required to address unique challenges in the space sector. This role really plays to our strengths as we have an extensive understanding of international regulations and operations, combined with an award-winning approach to delivering innovative safety solutions. We look forward to working with the UK Space Agency to progress the development of the spaceflight regulatory framework and enable a range of spaceflight operations.”
