Osprey completes A400M aircraft Safety Case

Scroll

The UK’s first Airbus A400M Atlas military transport arrived at RAF Brize Norton late last year, and Osprey are extremely proud of the role it played in working towards this milestone, having developed and provided the Platform Safety Assessment (Safety Case) and support into the Release to Service (RTS) for this next generation of transport aircraft.

The A400M will be able to carry up to 32 tonnes of cargo, with a maximum range of 4,700 Nautical Miles, thereby providing a significant boost to the UK’s military airlift capabilities. It will eventually replace the service’s current fleet of C-130J Hercules aircraft.

The Safety Case documentation produced by Osprey for the A400M’s entry into service was well received by the Type Airworthiness Authority (TAA), Assistant Chief of Air Staff (ACAS), the Operational Duty Holder (2 Group) and the Military Aviation Authority (MAA). Osprey will continue to support the A400M Project Team for the next two years delivering safety and airworthiness documentation in line with the UK ATLAS Delivery programme for the remaining 21 aircraft.
