Osprey CSL, a tpgroup company, has been awarded a new Safety Management and Assurance contract by Highlands and Islands Airports Limited (HIAL). Helping to assure safer air travel for the 1.7m passengers across HIAL’s eleven airports, the contract forms part of the HIAL Consultancy Services Framework for Air Traffic Management (ATM), Air Traffic Engineering (ATE) and Airport Operations.
Contracts awarded under this framework agreement enable technical and business support to HIAL’s ATM, ATE and Airport operations. This includes support to projects that enable current operations, as well as support to the Air Traffic Management Strategy (ATMS) Programme, which will introduce remote aerodrome services at a number of HIAL airports.
Safety management and assurance forms a crucial element of the ATMS Programme and is paramount to a fit-for-purpose, successful delivery of services from the Combined Surveillance Centre (CSC). This project is the largest of its kind within UK air traffic control, bringing together air traffic management for five airports into a single location.
As HIAL’s chosen safety assurance provider for the ATMS Programme, Osprey will be responsible for the day-to-day planning, management and execution of all safety related tasks to achieve the presentation of a coherent Safety Argument by HIAL to the regulator for this complex and first-of-type implementation. While the activities are undertaken and led by Osprey, HIAL will own the safety argument, the process and the outcomes and are fully engaged in delivery to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
Paul Eldred, ATM Systems Team Leader at Osprey said: “We are delighted that HIAL has awarded us such an important contract as part of the existing framework and chosen to extend our support to the Programme. Osprey will bring to bear its extensive safety and ATM experience by providing an exceptional team to manage and assure the future safety of HIAL’s operations.”
