Osprey has helped more than 30 airports achieve their growth targets.

Existing clients have commented on how well our multidisciplinary team integrates with airport staff and makes a real contribution to projects at all stages, from concept development, and financial planning through to mobilisation and delivery.

Our extensive range of services is supported by a team of experts who all bring the relevant and current experience of delivering success to our airport clients. As aviation specialists, we relish the dynamic nature of airport project work and are proud of our ability to help clients successfully deliver against often changing and competing variables. Each airport is unique, as are their aims, goals, and challenges. We have formed long-term friendships with many of our customers and are proud to be associate members of the Airports UK. We are also a CAA Approved Procedure Design Organisation (APDO) for the purposed of Flight Procedure Design and Physical Safeguarding.

Our track record supports our claim to be one of the UK’s leading airport consultancies. Our services have been designed to offer high-quality support in those areas where our clients tell us support is most needed.

Whether you need the aerodrome safeguarding support, reassurance of an expert on the OJEU process or a full procurement team; safety advice or a first-of-type safety case; a business case or a full cost-benefit analysis; management of, or assistance with, a full or partial airspace re-design, Osprey can provide informed, independent and focused support to meet your airport’s strategic objectives or regulatory requirements.

Conventional Aviation

Osprey is at the cutting edge of deploying the very latest concepts and technologies for civil and military customers in the fields of airports, systems, airspace, manned and unmanned air platforms, space and environment.  However, it is equally important to challenge the applicability and suitability of such concepts to ensure they are truly aligned to our customers’ requirements.

We are not seduced by the latest technology or market trends.  Frequently, in whole or part, our solutions include conventional concepts.  This may be because it is the most effective technical solution, it better meets our clients’ commercial or environmental constraints, or they are deployed as a form of safety mitigation or resilience.

Across Instrument Flight Procedure Design, Airports and Airspace, Air Traffic Management Systems or Platforms and Air Systems, our highly experience staff are able to offer a unique depth of understanding and blend of services in conventional aviation.  However, we also have the technical confidence and competence to combine these with emerging concepts to deliver the most effective, efficient and appropriate solutions to our clients.

Digital Technology and Artificial Intelligence

The use of digital technology has increased exponentially in the last few years with operational deployments now providing a regulatory-approved service at locations in the UK and around the world.  As we move to a more digital and connected world, existing operations and services will both benefit from the technology, but it also provides additional complexity.

The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning is also an area of current and future growth across all sectors. AI and Machine Learning will create huge opportunities in the way current civil and military capabilities are realised but will also present huge challenges from a regulatory and safety critical perspective.

Osprey can support clients in development of a Digital Solutions for new or existing operational environments, which includes, aerodrome, surveillance control and platforms.

UAS and C-UAS

The ultimate aim is to safely integrate UAS into the total aviation system without any increased hazard to other airspace users whilst providing protection against UAS misuse.  In achieving this objective an incremental approach must be taken whilst remaining agile to any regulatory or standards development in this fast moving environment.

Despite the proliferation of Visual Line of Sight (VLOS) systems there is now a real ambition to push the technology and regulatory boundaries to operate in a Beyond VLOS (BVLOS) environment and in more automated ways.  Societal and safety concerns & risks need to be completely understood and managed in a controlled manner.

Advanced Air Mobility

Advanced Air Mobility can be defined as the integration new air systems and technologies into new and the existing aviation infrastructure with the aim of moving people and cargo in a distributed and more sustianble way. Advanced Air Mobility is often seen as ‘Air Taxis’ or eVTOLs, but it is much more;  everything from the air vehicles, supporting infrastructure, Unified Traffic Management systems, data management, new airspace design and route planinng to name a few.

As a specialist aviation consultancy with a wide range of highly relevant and complimentary capabilities, our support is highly relevant to the growing AAM market.

We have an established background in delivering innovative concepts for our clients, which is based on;

  • Our technical expertise in delivering the constituent elements of AAM is proven in both civil and military settings.
  • Our flexible, innovative and imaginative approach to such challenges, particularly in the field of safety assurance and systems engineering, where we deliver ‘first of type’ and novel solutions to the complete satisfaction of the Regulator.

Our support services apply to many different organisations wanting to implement an AAM solution or even just considering whether AAM is an option

Sustainable Aviation

Sustainable Aviation is a broad term which covers the entire aviation sector but is ultimately about the reduction of carbon emissions to Net Zero by 2050. UK aviation announced decarbonisation targets of at least 15% by 2030 and 40% by 2040, having reaffirmed their commitment to net-zero by 2050. The RAF have stated their target as being Carbon Net Zero by 2040.

Ultimately a holistic approach to decarbonisation will need to be applied by the entire aviation sector if targets are going to be achieved. The Sustainable Aviation pillars as shown below shows the areas in which technology and investment will be required in order to achieve the ambitious targets set.

The team at Osprey were outstanding in their approach to our project and throughout the timeline the team were fully supportive with their communication and interaction.

The output from the team proved to me that they deliver high quality pieces of work.

Glasgow Prestwick Airport

I found Osprey to be professional and responsive in meeting the demands of the Blackshark project. They were always on hand to address any issues and were pragmatic and practical in their advice. I would recommend Osprey to others needing similar safety advice and support.

Teledyne Reynolds

As part of the overarching aviation safety case for MARS Tanker, Osprey were requested at very short notice to provide independent safety assurance for the new to service Kelvin Hughes ATM radar. The task was agreed and completed within a week fully meeting Project expectations and timeline enabling the ATM case to progress to the regulatory acceptance phase on time.

Again, Steve Elks and his colleagues have provided outstanding support to the STAMP project and associated Safety Committee, always providing sound advice and at times providing order to proceedings when meetings go off on a tangent.

All associated with the STAMP project respect Steve’s views and comprehensive knowledge of the world of safety.

I, STAMP team look forward to working with Steve and his colleagues at Osprey Consulting Services for a long time to come.

Osprey provided a great service from the outset, and ensured that all aspects of the Safety Assurance documentation were accurate, robust and concise. It has been a pleasure working with the Osprey Safety Team, and I’d have no hesitation recommending their services to others.
