Rich Connelly, Director of Operations will present our Performance Based Navigation (PBN) capabilities at the DE&S Airworthiness Symposium on 28th September at Abbey Wood in Bristol. This is part of a month long CPD initiative called ‘SQEPtember’ where the MOD is running a series of lectures to highlight the importance of ensuring that appropriate personnel are in place along the supply chain to undertake critical responsibilities.
Performance Based Navigation (PBN) is a new concept based on the use of Area Navigation (RNAV) systems. PBN aims to ensure global standardisation of RNAV and RNP (Required Navigation Performance) specifications and to limit the proliferation of navigation specifications that are currently in use worldwide.
Our presentation will describe the different PBN standards, discuss key themes around airspace management, and describe how the proposed civil standards apply to the MOD from a military context.
