We have an exciting opportunity for a Safety and Airworthiness Consultant who would be interested in working across both civil and military projects. As a Senior Consultant with Osprey you’ll find yourself working across aviation projects within our Platforms and Air Systems team. You’ll find yourself working with world-class clients within Defence Industry and Civilian market including work across complex safety critical programmes.

As a Senior Safety and Airworthiness Consultant you’ll provide aviation safety and airworthiness engineering skills to external clients and to assist in the development of business growth. We’d like you to have substantial knowledge in safety engineering with experience of air systems certification, gained from working with the MAA, Prime Contractors or Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) Delivery Teams. Consultants must have a safety management and/or certification backgrounds in Military Aviation to be considered for this role.

The role:

The Senior Safety and Airworthiness Consultant will be responsible for technical leadership, bid management and business development of military projects with the opportunity work across civil projects. We’d ideally like you to be involved in delivering; Military Certification artefacts, Safety Assessment Reports, Safety Management Plans, Hazard Logs. Experience in planning, delivery, execution and control of safety and airworthiness projects including provision of safety and airworthiness advice and innovative solutions to our clients.

What do I need for this role?

  • Experience of working with POSMS
  • Working with and delivering to the MRP, specifically including RA5810 & RA5820
  • Sound knowledge of Defence Standard 00-56
  • Proven experience and application of safety techniques such as; HAZOPS, SWIFT, Fault Tree Analysis, Event Tree Analysis, Zonal Hazard Analysis, Bowtie Analysis etc.
  • IEng or working towards IEng in a relevant discipline.
  • Willing to undertake UK security vetting

Desirable experience

  • CEng in a relevant discipline
  • MSc Safety Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience of working with the following would be preferable:
    • DO178B/C, DO254, IEC 61508, Defence Standard 00-970
    • CS25/CS23/CS29
    • JSP454, JSP430, JSP440
    • ARP4761
