Osprey is extremely proud to announce Deptherapy as its charity partner.
Deptherapy run specially adapted scuba diving programmes for seriously injured serving personnel and Veterans of the British Armed Forces and their dependents. Many have lost one or more limbs due to IED explosions in either Iraq or Afghanistan, and were in an extremely dark and isolated place before being introduced to the highly skilled and dedicated team at Deptherapy.
Osprey staff were particularly taken with this charity due to their life changing work and the incredible results achieved through their diving programmes. Indeed, many of our own staff are ex-military and can relate to the devastating effects that such horrific injuries can have on an individual’s physical and mental state.
Jon Arden, Managing Director at Osprey explained: “When selecting our charity partner, it was really important for us to offer more than the typical fundraising package, which often only offers a temporary solution. We are committed to working closely with the team at Deptherapy to make a difference by raising awareness of the issues and helping to promote their truly inspirational work and achievements.”
The year ahead will see Osprey staff working together to raise as much money as possible to provide new equipment and to help towards the funding for future dive programmes. In addition, our staff will also offer key skills as required, to support the project management, administration and communications of future expeditions.
Here are two videos that inspired us. If they inspire you too, please share them and help to spread the word about this fantastic charity.
