Congratulations to Peter Giles, Chief Technical Officer at Osprey who has recently been elected a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
IET Fellowship is the highest award for individuals who have sustained high levels of achievement, for example through leadership, influence, senior responsibility, innovation and professional service, at the forefront of engineering, technology or cognate disciplines for a period of five years or more.
The latest list of newly elected IET Fellows has been published in The Guardian newspaper today (4th Oct).
Commenting on his Fellowship Peter said: “To become a Fellow of the IET is a tremendous personal achievement and I feel extremely honoured to be recognised at this level for my contribution to the engineering profession. This also reinforces the importance that Osprey places on engineering excellence, professional registration and our ongoing relationships with the professional engineering institutions.”
Peter is a Chartered Engineer and a founding Director of Osprey. He has over 40 years’ experience in civil and military aviation. His career began as a Flight Trials Engineer working in support of the Release To Service for a wide range of military aircraft. He then held a range of consultancy appointments focused on the procurement, safety and the reliability of a diverse range of systems, from Water Purification to Network Enabled Communication Systems.
Peter has developed over 50 ATM safety cases, including ‘first approval’ for a number of Surveillance and Navigation equipment, as well as innovative Aeronautical Ground Lighting, Meteorological and Wind Farm Mitigation systems.
