License Application Support

Scroll

Osprey’s expert knowledge of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Regulations (Conventional Aviation and Space) means we are uniquely placed to provide expert advice to Aerodrome, Advanced Air Mobility, Spaceport and Space Launch developers and operators alike.

Our staff have worked with numerous airports and aviation operators in the UK and internationally to help our clients understand how to apply, support or maintain an existing license. We are also advising UK Spaceport developers in their license application for the new space regulations and existing aviation regulations, to develop first of type space launch capability in the UK.

Our deep understanding of the regulations, our relationship with the aviation / space regulators and our knowledge of ‘what good looks like’ has been instrumental in our licensing support to our clients, based on knowledge and application of the following CAA regulations:

  • Civil Aviation Publication (CAP)168 – “Licensing of Aerodromes”
  • CAP2209 – Applying for a licence under the space industry act 2018
  • CAP2221 – Regulator’s licensing rules

I have been exceptionally pleased with the manner that Osprey have supported the Operator Training Delivery.  The response to requests for support particularly with a programme which has fluid timelines and often required last minute changes or short notice requests were well received.  Furthermore, on every occasion Simon Kirby was professional, flexible and accommodating ensuring we were able to meet key milestones particularly with the quick completion of the Training Reports.  Moreover, the feedback from our customers was excellent and we always received highly positive feedback on the delivery of the training.

As part of the overarching aviation safety case for MARS Tanker, Osprey were requested at very short notice to provide independent safety assurance for the new to service Kelvin Hughes ATM radar. The task was agreed and completed within a week fully meeting Project expectations and timeline enabling the ATM case to progress to the regulatory acceptance phase on time.

The successful delivery of this significant ATC project would not have been possible were it not for the support of Osprey CSL and I’d like to thank them for their work.  Working closely with our project team, they helped to take an aspiration and turn it into a viable project that could be delivered within time and on budget. We have worked with Osprey before and I’m pleased with their technical knowledge and willingness to further enhance the technical excellence already present within our airport in order to form the most effective delivery team possible.

I found Osprey to be professional and responsive in meeting the demands of the Blackshark project. They were always on hand to address any issues and were pragmatic and practical in their advice. I would recommend Osprey to others needing similar safety advice and support.

To help find an acceptable interim mitigation for a proposed Wind Farm, LSA approached Osprey as recognised leaders in Wind Turbine Mitigation methods. As part of their remit Osprey reviewed the potential capabilities of the local radar as well as other mitigation technologies in relation to the anticipated turbine effects and our Operational Requirement. Based on their assessment of the available solutions, the local airspace environment and the demanding project timescales, the use of a Non Automatic Initiation Zone (NAIZ) was proposed.

Osprey subsequently developed the Radar Sensor Safety Case to include the NAIZ and supported LSA through the subsequent discussions with CAA SARG. As a result of these discussions the NAIZ was accepted into operational service prior to turbine operation.

The solution has subsequently worked well and has proven itself to be the right decision for the mitigation of the Wind Farm.

I would readily recommend Osprey to any ANSP seeking supportive and informed assistance in establishing mitigation of Wind Turbines on Approach Radars.
