A major regional airport were keen to maintain their high level of air traffic control service and demonstrate this ability during their regular audit by the CAA Safety Regulation Group (SRG) (now Safety and Airspace Regulation Group, SARG). They were keen to ensure that previous observations would be considered to be fully addressed and asked Osprey to conduct an independent assessment.
Business Need
The client wanted independent assurance that previous SRG ATC audit findings had been fully addressed and ensure they were fully prepared for the following audit.
Our Role
Osprey assessed a number of SRG audits of the Airport air traffic control to identify any themes developing. We visited the Airport to consider if these issues were still of relevance, or if the Airport had already fully resolved the observations. We also delved into the training, competency and safety management processes undertaken at the Airport. Whilst all processes were sound, Osprey identified areas that could be approached in a different manner to produce efficiencies. A full report was compiled and discussed with staff, allowing swift and comprehensive implementation.
The Outcome
The Airport implemented our recommendations and advised that the subsequent SRG audit had gone extremely well, with receipt of the best audit report in many years. They have continued to operate utilising much of our advice to efficiently manage their processes.
