Nige is an experienced Airworthiness and Air Safety Chartered Engineer. He joined Osprey in January 2016 following an extensive career in the Fleet Air Arm. His naval career culminated in appointments in both the Military Aviation Authority, as an airworthiness analyst and Duty Holder regulator, and the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) where he was a Policy Specialist for Unmanned Aircraft Systems with responsibility for developing international and national civil regulations and requirements.
Since joining Osprey, Nige has been the technical lead on numerous challenging projects. In the UAS sector these have included a review of the UK’s UAS regulations and policy on behalf of the CAA, representing DfT on a UAS mid-air collision study, supporting Airbus in creating a safe separation assessment for their Zephyr UAS and providing safety and regulatory support to emerging unmanned renewable energy technologies.
Nige has also supported military and civil manned aviation organisations in the safety, airworthiness, certification and regulatory domains. Examples include safety and regulatory assessments for offshore renewable aviation operations on behalf of Ørsted, and the provision of certification, airworthiness and regulatory support for a large Defence client.
Nige leads the development of Osprey’s unmanned sector strategy and capability.
