Rich ConnellyManaging Director
As Managing Director, Rich is responsible for ensuring that Osprey meets its business goals and remains at the forefront of aviation consultancy.
Since joining Osprey in 2015, Rich has filled a number of management roles and delivered a wide range of complex projects and programmes across all business areas. He has extensive experience of working at a governmental level and managing organisational change and is responsible for developing and maintaining strategic relationships with Osprey’s customers and industry partners.
Prior to joining Osprey, Rich completed 27 years in the Royal Air Force as an air traffic controller. His extensive operational, policy and regulatory roles included secondment to the CAA initially as Assistant Director of Airspace Policy and subsequently as Deputy Head of Intelligence Strategy and Policy.
Mark WakemanChief Operating Officer
As our Chief Operating Officer (COO), Mark is responsible for the day to day running of Osprey including performance across our project portfolio. He also focuses on improving efficiency and streamlining internal process and working practices. Mark joined Osprey in June 2017 and after a period as the Airports and Airspace Team Leader, he was promoted to the Osprey Board in 2018 as the Operations Director. He became COO in 2021.
Prior to joining Osprey Mark completed a 6-year tenure with the Civil Aviation Authority as a Technical Airspace Regulator. He also gained extensive consulting experience working in the health sector implementing lean processes and methodologies to help transform operational processes.
Mark also completed a 28-year career in the Royal Air Force as a fast-jet navigator and Qualified Weapons Instructor. He has extensive experience in flying operations, instructional roles, synthetic and collective training, and the management and analysis of aircraft and complex weapon systems trials.
Steve ElksProject Delivery Director
As the Project Delivery Director, Steve is responsible for ensuring that our projects are not only delivered to the very highest standards that our clients expect, but equally in accordance with our ISO 9001:2015 accredited Quality Management System.
Steve is a highly experienced Aviation Consultant and Chartered Engineer with an exceptionally strong and proven record in developing and delivering complex projects, requirements capture and safety assurance across a myriad of Air Traffic Management (ATM) equipment and processes.
With over 26 years aviation engineering experience, Steve has the comprehensive knowledge and practical experience required to apply the very latest safety processes and lead complex technical ATM and Communications, Navigation and Surveillance programmes for both Military and Civil clients.
A former Air Traffic Controller in the Royal Air Force, Steve has been with Osprey since 2011. He has previously been the ATM Systems Team Leader and was promoted to the Osprey Board as the Chief Technical Officer in 2020.
Pete SymonsBusiness Development Director
Pete has enjoyed 15 years in consultancy and 20 years in the defence industry having worked for a large defence prime contractor and global defence engineering consultancies. Pete joined Osprey in 2013 as a Principal Consultant technically leading airworthiness and certification projects for defence and civil clients. He was the Platforms and Air Systems Team Leader for 4 years helping to develop and grow the team and deliver on a range of technically demanding projects.
Pete is the programme director for numerous space, sustainable aviation and advanced air mobility projects within Osprey providing technical direction and strategic oversight. He has a keen interest in the advancement of innovative safety, engineering, and compliance solutions to enable technology advancement in emerging civil and military markets. Pete sits on numerous committees for Advanced Air Mobility and UK Space.
As the Business Development Director, Pete is responsible for the overall development of the business including sales, marketing and recruitment.
